The Park and Recreation Commission held a meeting on Tuesday October 20, 2009 at 6:45 P.M. at the Park, Recreation and Community Center located on Broad Street.

Pat Curtin made a motion to approve the August minutes. Amy Everitt seconded.

Ellen Talkowsky requesting permission to have the Fireworks at Franklin Street playground. She checked with the Company that is building the new playground and got the ok to do the fireworks.
The show will be 7 minutes of fireworks, there will be a band playing on Washington Street.
Pat Curtin made a motion to approve the request for Franklin Park to have the fireworks on October 31, 2009. Amy Everitt seconded.

Amy Everitt made a motion to approve the use of the island along the Hawthorne Blvd. for vendors and entertainment on Friday and Saturday, October 30, and 31.

Pat Curtin made a motion to approve the Jazz and Soul Festival at the Salem Willows Shell and use of the Sun Houses also. This includes 40 vendors who are local small arts and craftsmen and are a nonprofit organization.

High Street playground bids will be in next week.
Pat Curtin made a motion to approve the proposed golf special for November requested by Dick Drew, he can run this special at his disgression: $13.00 per person or 2 people with a cart for $36.00. Monday – Friday.

Budget Report
Witch House had an excellent September
Willows Meters – what needs to be done down the Willows? With the money being made by the meters, what should be worked on. Chris Burke suggested they use some of the funds to resurface the tennis courts at the Willows.
Capital Report
Mack Park stairs report with pictures hand out.
High Street – new fence.
Pickman Park – basketball court needs to be resurfaced in the Spring, estimated cost $4800.00.
